GCC Beijing 2012 First Post - Dream of Red Lanterns

Right now we’re sitting in the lobby of our hostel, the Red Lantern house. We are Melissa, Octavia, Martha, Mandy, Christina, and Jill. The hostel is gorgeous; to name a few highlights, there is a tiny bridge over a fish pond, elaborate decorations, and lots of plants. We’ve seen lots of different people coming and going throughout the morning. The six of us arrived with Kevin late last night and promptly collapsed in our rooms. The fourteen hour flight was a little long for some of us.

This morning, we ate an American-style breakfast in the hostel and it was delicious.  The orange juice we had was far superior to orange juice in the US. We’re all adjusting to not drinking from the tap and relying on bottled water instead.

Soon, we’re heading out to explore the area around the hostel and buy some things we all need, and the next batch of our group should be arriving later today.
