Countdown to Beijing - Computer issues

In the countdown to going to Beijing, here are some suggestions for getting your computational life in order:
1. If you're bringing a computer, make a clone of your hard drive (e.g., Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper on a Mac). That way you won't lose your data if something happens to your drive.

2. Make sure you have anitvirus software installed and updated.

3. If you're not bringing a computer, get a thumb drive and copy all of the files you might imagine you would want access to.

    a) One of our plans is to offer that our group will teach students in Beijing and Xi'an how to work with the TIMSS/PISA data. We'll bring the data, but you should bring the materials for your presentation so you can walk them through your project.

3. It's probably a good idea to set up some non-Google email account, just in case, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Mobileme, etc.

As we've mentioned before, Chinese is fond of short, usually 4-character phrases, called chengyu.

Here's today's:

qiao3 tu4 san1 ku1
literally, "smart rabbit three holes" or a smart rabbit has multiple ways to escape predators.
